If September were represented as an action instead of with words that action would be, say, a monthly check-in reaching your inbox a tad late.

Well, you know what they say: better late and aligned than fake and on time.

Okay, I just made that up, but it's good, right?

You may remember in the last check-in that my September intention was to embody the confidence that comes with preparedness. As I began to move through the month, however, I felt bombarded by a destabilising sense of busyness and overwhelm.

Although I hadn't foreseen the ungrounded feeling that the month would try to sweep me away in, I do feel like I managed to embody my intention, albeit in an unexpected way.

Instead of going into productivity overdrive, I opted for a slow and steady pace, which ended up ushering in a much-needed change in perspective. I had initially envisioned "prepared" as, to put it plainly, finishing a bunch of stuff. It actually meant a shift to realign my footing on more solid ground: that is, on my true path.

This new perspective revealed that I hold some pretty dire limiting beliefs, some of which surprised me since I generally see myself as a confident go-getter. Upon realising this, I exhaled in exasperation: I don't want to believe these things! So why do I?

Why, indeed.

Still, it's progress. I'm grateful to now be aware of these limiting beliefs, for only once we're aware can we begin the crucial de-layering process, laying our souls bare like the deciduous trees of autumn to rebuild ourselves truly and fully.

Thanks to this insight, I feel much cleareryou could even say, preparedsure of what I'm doing and why, not to mention the discrepancy between how I've been showing up and how I'm meant to show up as well as my next steps to close that gap.

In light of that clarity, I've started working on some exciting stuff, which I'll announce in the next couple of months.

In the meantime, I would love to hear from you. Did you have a similarly swamped September? How about any insights that have given you a clear action plan or at least some clarity in how you might navigate the rest of the year? Let me know by hitting reply!

As always, I wish you a wonderful and inspired day.

With love

Getting stuck in Bali
Last year, I travelled to Bali in the beginning of March in an effort to reconnect with myself and recover from depression. We all know what started happening in the middle of March... Because of the worldwide shutdown, my intended 7-week stay unexpectedly doubled. In my latest video, I share a bit about what this was like and what I learned. I believe it is so important to reflect on challenging times, as doing so helps us to not only integrate the lessons those times give us, but also celebrate that we made it through. So that is exactly what I do in this video. Give it a watch and be sure to let me know what resonates.
What I've been up to

Reading to a kitty cat...

I welcomed a visitor this month in the form of Shadow the foster cat. She is incredibly shy, so I've been reading to her in hopes that she gets used to my voice. We've been reading Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés, a book I will do a video on at some point. For now, here's a quote that stood out:

Art is important for it commemorates the seasons of the soul, or a special or tragic event in the soul’s journey. Art is not just for oneself, not just a marker of one’s own understanding. It is also a map for those who follow after us.

Transformation through learning...

September also saw me completing Reiki Level 1 (again) with Kate of The Space Between Healing. Since I'd already received reiki attunements, I was not expecting the experience to be as powerful as it wasyou'd think I'd know better by now! Alas, I was blown away, not to mention flattened out on some days. My biggest lesson?

Keep learning and keep an open mind.

If you're interested in learning reiki, you can get £50 off any of Kate's courses by using MEL£50VOUCHER, which will also give me a small commission.

Expanding horizons...

I'm also thrilled to announce that I am now teaching yoga in person at Flow Culture Studio (learn more about them later on in this email), covering classes on an ad hoc basis. Getting this in-person connection has been so nourishing to my spirit. It's also strengthened my music playlist-making muscle, which I've been totally loving.

Check out my playlists on Spotify.

Staying inspired...

I discovered a new podcast that felt like it was made just for me and, in a way, it was because it's made for anyone who identifies as a creative soul. It covers all things creative process, routines and rituals while exploring the intersection of creativity, mindfulness and spirituality. Give it a listen at the link below:

A forward glance...
Intention for the month: harvest

As I revealed in a recent YouTube video, I've been writing every single day for nearly 8 years. That means I have a load of pieces that have the potential to be something more than just lost in the recesses of various notebooks and Word docs.

So this month, my intention to harvest means taking meaningful reflection and action in terms of what I've already created in order to get it ready to share with the world.

After recounting the story of how I got stuck in Bali, I realise that "harvest" in this sense applies not just to the work we've done, but also to our experiences: how can we ensure that we really grasp the gems from both the good and bad times we've gone through?

Well, if you like to journal or you'd just like to ponder this a little further, I invite you to reap your harvest this October, starting with the prompts below. This month's exclusive exercise, a short visualisation meditation on shedding your figurative leaves, may be just what you need to get into that state of reflection and clarity.

I would love to hear what your intention for October is and any insights that came up for you in this exercise. Share them with me by replying to this email.
